Elizabeth Malaska

Elizabeth Malaska’s paintings address the female body throughout the history of painting—a body often on display for the acquisitive gaze of the viewer. This relationship between viewer and viewed is probed in order to expose hidden dynamics of domination and vulnerability, dynamics exposed to contain far-reaching social and political implications.

Elizabeth Malaska is a painter born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Her work has been shown regionally and nationally at such venues as Froelick Gallery, Disjecta, Portland Center Stage, and California College of the Arts. She earned her MFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art and is represented by Nationale.
