Emily Wobb

Good Night, 2015, Wood, Sod, Table, Flag, 20′ x 12′ x 8′

In the perspective of a naive American patriot, Emily Wobb asks questions about the inevitability of death.  Forever a Pennsylvanian reigning from Pittsburgh, Wobb currently lives and works in Portland, OR, to hone her sculptural craftsmanship.  Wobb builds symbols of suburban comfort and destroys them with vehicles as a performance and builds the same symbols in new representations using the pieces.  Wobb finds inspiration from brilliant public events — monster truck shows, demolition derbies, motocross, county fairs, rodeos and NASCAR, etc — because she believes they are honest expressions of Americanism and aspires to bring her artwork to that audience.
