Gabe Flores

Flores stands in Surplus Space, a residential gallery that he co-founded with Travis Nikolai in 2014.

Gabe Flores is an artist/curator living in Portland, Oregon. His work often deals with reflections on identity-based ideologies and personal narrative. Flores’ artistic practice is relationally based; he thinks of his projects as explorations of sociology and poltical theory. He was the curator/director of Place, a 4000 sq. ft. installation-based gallery on the top floor of Pioneer Place Mall; Place ran from June 2010 to March 2014. Currently, Flores directs Surplus Space, an exhibition project utilizing each room of a small Northeast Portland home.
